About Me

Discover Your Path to Healing

I was born and raised in beautiful Portland, Oregon.  I earned my bachelor's degree in Psychology and Criminal Justice from Gonzaga University. I went on to earn my Masters of Science in Community Counseling from Portland State University. I hold an LPC (licensed professional counselor) in the State of Oregon as well as an NCC (nationally certified counselor) certificate. I worked in Community Mental Health for around 15 years before transitioning into private practice in 2015. I specialize in trauma recovery, attachment issues, anxiety reduction and depression management. I am EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing) certified and Internal Family Systems (IFS) informed.

When I'm not working, I can often be found hanging out with my partner and our 3 teens. I love walking, coffee with friends and painting (usually poorly). I enjoy a good documentary or a snuggle on the couch with a book and my faithful pup, Winnie. My family also loves to travel, so I often while away the hours planning the next adventure. The ocean is my peaceful place and I head there as often as I can.

My approach

Empowering You with Knowledge

I believe that every person is doing the best they can with the tools, experiences, and resources they have in any given moment. My role as a therapist is to offer curiosity instead of judgment, compassion instead of pressure, and a space where your story can unfold with safety and intention.

As a relational therapist, I see the therapeutic relationship as the foundation of meaningful change. I work to truly know you - your history, your strengths, your patterns, and the places where you feel stuck, so that together we can uncover connections between your past and your present. When those patterns become clear, you can begin to move forward with greater insight, choice, and freedom.

My approach integrates several evidence-based modalities, allowing me to tailor therapy to your unique needs. I am trained in EMDR and use it to support trauma healing by helping clients establish present safety, process painful experiences, and create a more hopeful, empowered future template. I also draw from CBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing, and Solution-Focused Therapy to build practical skills and support real-life change.

In addition, I incorporate elements of Internal Family Systems, informed by over 20 hours of training in the model. IFS offers a gentle, respectful way to understand your internal world, helping you relate to your emotions with compassion and connect with the parts of yourself that carry wisdom, protection, or pain.

Across all of this work, my goal is to help you feel deeply seen, supported, and understood, so that healing can emerge naturally from a place of safety, connection, and possibility.

A note on newgrange

What is Newgrange?

The Newgrange World Heritage Site is a prehistoric monument located in County Meath, Ireland. Built around 3200 BCE, it is older than Stonehenge and the Egyptian pyramids. The site is a large, circular passage tomb with intricate stone carvings and a long passageway leading to an inner chamber.

Newgrange is most famous for its connection to the winter solstice: for a few days each December, the rising sun shines directly through a special “roof box” above the entrance, illuminating the inner chamber for several minutes. This precise alignment shows the advanced astronomical knowledge of the people who built it.

Why the name Newgrange Counseling Services?

I chose the name Newgrange Counseling Services because this ancient site holds a powerful symbol that resonates deeply with the therapeutic process. Visiting this sacred space reminded me of what therapy can offer: a place where even the smallest bit of light can reach the places that feel dark, heavy, or hidden.

Just as the solstice sunrise gently reveals what’s inside Newgrange, counseling creates space for clarity, healing, and new understanding to emerge. It’s not about forcing brightness but allowing light to enter slowly, naturally, and with intention.

Newgrange Counseling Services is meant to honor that process - walking with you as you explore your inner world, discover insights, and find your own sources of light and renewal.
